Chapter 59( Part 1)
Hunter arrived at the Silverton estate to discuss the lawsuit filed by Jack, Jeff’s family lawyer, claiming Annika was responsible for Jeff’s indirect manslaughter. Royce filled him in on the details, revealing that only Jack was behind the lawsuit, and that he had hired a low-rent divorce attorney, Pete Thurston, who was notorious for losing cases. Hunter was incredulous and felt that Jack didn’t stand a chance in court.
The Silverton family welcomed Hunter, and they reviewed the case together. Hunter stated that based on what he knew, Jack didn’t have an actual case, as Jeff’s choices and actions led to his own downfall. The family agreed, with Madalena and Micky sharing their own experiences with Jeff’s infidelity, verbal abuse, and physical assault. Beau, Annika’s father, was particularly incensed by Jeff’s behavior, stating that he had nearly destroyed his daughter’s psyche. The family was united in their disdain for Jack and his baseless lawsuit, and they were confident that they would come out on top in the end.
Chapter 59( Part 2)
Sadie was devastated when she learned about Jeff’s death and became enraged, smashing her tablet and causing a scene that drew the attention of correctional officers. She was sedated and returned to her cell, where she continued to express her grief and anger by fighting with her cellmates. In the process, she permanently injured one of the inmates and ruptured her own placenta, causing the death of her unborn child.
When Kenzie, her former OB-GYN, visited her at the infirmary, Sadie’s anger and denial only intensified. Kenzie revealed that Sadie’s baby had died due to the lack of medical attention after the fight, and that she would now face charges for fraud, attempted murder, and aggravated assault. Sadie’s refusal to accept responsibility for her actions culminated in a heated confrontation with Kenzie, who condemned Sadie for putting her own ego and image above the well-being of herself and her baby.
Chapter 60( Part 1)
Annika and Kenzie reflected on their difficult day at the women’s prison, where they had witnessed Sadie’s baby being taken away. Despite Sadie’s problematic behavior, the women felt sympathy for her loss. Annika then asked Kenzie to perform an ultrasound, which revealed the early stages of her own pregnancy. Excited to see her baby, Annika’s eyes welled up with tears as she gazed at the small blueberry-like image on the monitor. Kenzie took measurements and told Annika that it was too early to determine the baby’s gender.
As they prepared to leave the clinic, Kenzie asked Annika and Leon about names for the baby. Annika mentioned that they hadn’t had time to discuss it yet, and Leon surprised them by showing up at the clinic door. He presented Annika with printouts of the ultrasound results, expressing excitement and gratitude. Kenzie noted that Janko had called Leon about the lawsuit against Annika, leading to a somber discussion about their future. Despite the challenges ahead, the couple stood united, looking forward to building a life together and welcoming their new arrival.
Chapter 60( Part 2)
As Annika answered the front door, the rest of the family was suddenly interrupted by the sound of a whip cracking, followed by a gunshot. Leon jumped up and rushed out of the room, and the family followed him to find Annika lying in a pool of her own blood. They quickly realized it was Agatha Galloway, Sadie’s mother, who had been shot and was struggling on the floor. Everyone was in shock as they called the police and paramedics to take Agatha away.
Leon and Royce quickly jumped into Annika’s Urus and sped to the nearest hospital, arriving in record time. They rushed into the emergency department, screaming for help, and the hospital staff quickly came to their aid. Annika was rushed into the operating room, where Kenzie Malloy, her OB-GYN, was waiting to try and save her baby. The outcome was uncertain as the family waited anxiously for news, helpless to do anything but sit and wait.
Chapter 60(Part 3)
Leon roared in Agatha Galloway’s face, his anger boiling over as he accused her of having a “f$$$$$g death wish” for attempting to harm his sister and her unborn child. Mrs. Galloway reared in dread, but Leon’s resolve only faltered slightly before he dropped her to the floor, demanding to know why she had to cross him again.
As the situation escalated, Royce pulled Mrs. Galloway’s hair, taunting her about her poor life choices and the karma she had received for her actions. When Toby returned from making a phone call, they took Mrs. Galloway outside, where they found the entire police precinct empty, thanks to Leon’s bribery. The officers, instructed by the police commissioner to stand down, ignored Mrs. Galloway’s pleas for help, leaving her to tremble with fear as Leon and Royce drove away into the night.
Chapter 60(Part 4)
Leon and Royce joined the rest of the Silverton family in the hospital’s waiting room, where they remained silent about Madalena’s greenlight, knowing it could range from a beating to an execution. Royce, in charge of discipline, showed no remorse and was trained by Beau to harness his aggressive tendencies.
After an hour and a half, Kenzie and another doctor arrived to update the family on Madalena’s condition. The news was mostly positive, with the bullet having missed the baby’s amniotic sac, but Anni’s pregnancy was now unstable and she would need to go on bed rest, limiting her physical activity and stress to ensure a healthy pregnancy. She would not be able to accompany Leon to the courthouse next week or participate in wedding planning. The family was shocked by the news, but relieved that the baby was okay, calling it a miracle.
Epilogue
As the day of their wedding arrived, Annika was feeling nervous, clutching her bouquet as she was escorted down the aisle by her father, Beau. They had reached this milestone a year after the drama in their lives had finally come to an end. Annika had given birth to a healthy baby girl, Adelina Jasmine Von Doren, seven months earlier. The wedding was a small, intimate affair held at the Canaves Oia Boutique Hotel in Santorini, with only 50 guests in attendance.
As Annika walked down the aisle, she was overcome with emotion, remembering the journey that had brought her to this moment. She thought back to her first meeting with Leon, their partnership to take down those who had wronged them, and the discovery of their true love for each other. The music changed to her favorite love song, “A Whole New World,” as she approached the altar, where Leon was waiting for her. Surrounded by her father, her friends Kenzie and Hunter, and her mother, Annika knew that she was exactly where she was meant to be.
